How to Create a Team - Four Easy Steps

Step 1: Create a team. Teammates can come from your workplace, your friends and family, your own training partners, or any community you're part of. Teams with strong leaders have the power to raise more funds and impact more lives.  Individuals on the same team can run or walk.

Step 2: Decide on a team name and register. Recruit others to join you…each person will register individually. Make sure that all team members know the team name and use consistent spelling when registering online.

Step 3: Set a team goal.  Decide how many team members you would like to have. Strive for a minimum of five runners or walkers. Remind team members to recruit other runners/walkers and ask for donations. Set a team fundraising goal. Ask your team about corporate matching gifts, some companies will match your donations. Each team member is encouraged to donate a minimum of $10 above the registration fee.  Because this is a fundraiser run/walk, the ideal goal for all teams is to raise an average of $100 per person in donations. Keep track of your donations with the WEI Donor Tracking Form and turn them into WEI on race day.

Step 4: Spread the word. Make information about WEI available to your contacts. Use for some helpful talking points and video.  Share our Facebook Event Page. Use email, phone calls and Facebook to spread the word throughout your company, group, neighborhood and community.
